About me
I teach and study a variety of physical practices, and what matters most to me is helping you connect to your peaceful and powerful essence through a meditative experience.
On the mat, connection like this can begin through focus on details of your body in a posture. I am passionate about precision and intention.
Yoga has changed the way I move through life in many ways. I became devoted to my practice during my last year of college at a tiny basement studio in the upstate New York town I was living in. I was reporting for the local newspaper, graduating in a few months, and nearly convinced that I was going to be a journalist. The only thing I ever wanted to do was write.
Asana offered me a scaffolding to create a new kind of story; one with myself where I could feel deeply, and receive clear feedback from the framework of a posture. I discovered that I didn't only need to put my thoughts on paper to be seen or heard, I could have a conversation with my body through moving meditation. Patterns began to emerge.
Years later when I began taking YTTs, I once more discovered that I could use my words in a new way. I found my teaching voice.
I now meet physical and mental resistance with patience. Patience has helped me build consistency and the ability to expand my attention, improving my baseline of courage and compassion. The yoga mat has become the perfect place to discover how to communicate with my inner landscape, and how to help you rediscover your own strength and grace.
